Florence F. Harris
Co-Founder, Chief Accountant Officer
Florence is an extremely motivated and results-driven professional with exceptional
work ethics and an extensive background in Accounting and Finance. She is responsible
for establishing and enforcing accounting and auditing policy to enhance the transparency
and relevancy of financial reporting, and for improving the professional performance of
our company auditors in order to ensure that financial statements used for investment
decisions are presented fairly and have credibility.
Prior to joining UMGroup, Inc. Florence worked as an Assistant Accounting Manager
for Opinion Research Corp. in Calverton, MD. Her responsibilities include preparing
month-end financial statements, reconciling cash, payroll, ZBA and escrow accounts.
Additionally, she performed account analysis on all general ledger accounts in
conformity with Federal standards and regulations.
Florence worked as an accountant for Crown Consulting, Inc. of Washington, DC. in
1999. She was responsible for preparing mid-month and month-end billings for both T&M
and Fixed Price contracts, updating and maintaining billing master file, and coordinating
with project managers regarding labor category codes and other direct charges. In 1995,
she was a Staff Accountant for Pacific Scientific Instrument in Silver Springs, MD.
where she managed the entire payroll processing system for three operating divisions.
In 1991, she worked for Development Alternatives, Inc. of Bethesda, MD. as an Accounts
Payable Assistant.
Florence was born and raised in Liberia. She attended St. Christopher Elementary
School in Kakata (1974), St. Peter Junior High School in Buchanon (1975-1977), and
Liberian Christian High School in Buchanon (1978-1980). She holds a Bachelor of
Science Degree in Accounting from the University of Maryland in College Park, MD.
She also holds a Master of Business Administration with a concentration in Finance
from Bowie State University in Bowie, MD.
